Under the Lights
Michigan vs. Notre Dame
35 - 31
September 10, 2011
Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
Michigan was the favorite entering the game, but at the start of the 4th quarter Notre Dame was up 24 - 7 and were feeling confident about getting the win. But Michigan came out strong and with a little over 2 minutes left in the 4th they had gone up 28 - 24. Notre Dame answered with a quick touchdown of their own, taking back the lead and giving the ball back to Michigan with only 30 seconds remaining on the clock. Michigan then proceeded to drive 80 yards in only 3 plays with the game winning touchdown coming on 16 yard pass from Denard Robinson to Roy Roundtree leaving only :02 on the clock. Michigan was already well on its way to crushing Ohio State in this 1991 game when Desmond Howard made his case for the Heisman. With 4:15 left to play in the half, Ohio State punted and Desmond caught it at Michigan's 7 yard line and proceeded to outsmart and outrun the Ohio State punt team for a record setting 93 yd punt return punctuated with the famous "Hello Heisman" pose at the end.

1979 Big Ten Regular Season
Wangler to Carter
10 Michigan vs. Indiana
27 - 21
October 27, 1979
Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
It was homecoming weekend in 1979 and as the clock wound down in the fourth quarter, Michigan was 45 yards out - too far for a field goal attempt. So with six seconds left on the clock Anthony Carter asked John Wangler to get him the ball. "I'll be open," he said, and he was. Wangler hit him at the 20 yard line and Carter did the rest, running in for the game winning touchdown and into Michigan lore.

1969 Big Ten Regular Season
Upset of the Century
12 Michigan vs. 1 Ohio State
24 - 12
November 22, 1969
Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
Considered by many to be the upset of the century, Michigan took down the Ohio State team that had been dubbed the "greatest college football team of all time". Already leading midway through the second quarter, Michigan forced Ohio State to go 3 and out and then sent Barry Pierson back to receive the punt. Pierson made a dramatic return, running all the way back to the Ohio State 3 yd line, which Michigan then converted into another touchdown to take a commanding lead.
