2000 Sugar Bowl (National Championship)
1 Florida State vs. 2 Virginia Tech
46 - 29
January 4, 2000
Lousiana Superdome, New Orleans, LA
Facing Michael Vick's Virginia Tech team in the Sugar Bowl, Florida State stopped two 2-point conversions and fought tooth and nail in a classic National Championship. Down by 1 at the end of the 3rd quarter it was Warrick's 64 yard touchdown catch, while being tackled, that gave Florida State back its momentum.
1993 Regular Season
Ward to Dunn
1 Florida State vs. 7 Florida
33 - 21
November 27, 1993
The Swamp, Gainesville, FL
Florida State had a shot at the National Championship but needed to get through Florida. Florida State had a comfortable lead going into the 4th quarter but then bad things started happening, like a pair of turnovers that Florida converted to touchdowns. They needed something to go right but they were facing a 3rd and 10 from their 21. Backed into a corner Charlie Ward scrambled through a rushing defense, his first option was covered, so he threw to freshman Warrick Dunn who blasted off for a 79-yard game-clinching run. Many consider it the greatest points Florida State has ever scored.
1991 Regular Season
Big Win at the Big House
1 Florida State vs. 3 Michigan
51 - 31
September 28, 1991
Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
Some call it the greatest game in Florida State history. Heading into the infamous Michigan Stadium for the first time to face the #3 ranked team, #1 Florida State quickly silenced the home crowd with a 40yd interception return by Terrell Buckley. By the end of the game the Florida State had 8 touchdowns scored by 7 different players.
1988 Regular Season
10 Florida State vs. 3 Clemson
24 - 21
September 17, 1988
Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC
4th and 4, 1:33 left on the clock. Not many coaches have the steel to pull a fake punt, and not many teams can make it work for the win. Bobby Bowden had the steel and the play would go down in Florida State history as "Puntrooskie."
