In the inaugural football playoffs, Ohio State handed a resounding loss to #1 Alabama. Alabama won the first half but Ohio State ended the second quarter on a trick play to bring them within 1 point of Alabama. Ohio State was the favorite to win the Big Ten Championship but no one expected them to rout Wisconsin 59-0. In a game that saw 8 touchdowns, perhaps the best was Cardale Jones 39 yd touchdown pass for Ohio State's first score in his first career start. The spectacular win helped secure Ohio State's place in college football's first playoff series.
