2026 World Cup, Round of 16
At the Azteca: 10 Men
England National Team vs Mexico
3 - 2
5 July, 2026
In one of the best round of 16 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Tournament, Jude Bellingham scores his second goal for England, just 2 minutes after opening the scoring with a header from inside the 9-yard box. This goal however came off an perfectly placed assist from team captain, Harry Kane. Bellingham managed to get a foot on the ball through the defenders legs and past the keeper for the second goal of the game. This match saw a ton of back and fourth play with England playing the last 36 minutes down a player. Mexico had a flurry of cross and shot attempts for what felt like the entire 36 minutes to end the game, but the English defense came up huge and managed to keep a narrow 1-goal lead to finish the game 3-2. This was only Mexico's third loss at the Azteca and first since 2013 vs Honduras in a World Cup Qualifier. England will now face Norway in the Round of 8.

England National Team vs Greece

6 October, 2001
The scene was set. David Beckham had a long-range free kick deep into stoppage time. England needed a goal to qualify for the 2002 World Cup. Without it, England would find themselves watching from home the next summer. As history would have it, Beckham curled it in and booked England's WC ticket.

2018 World Cup: Round of 16
Breaking the Curse
England National Team vs Colombia
1 - 1
3 July, 2018
The 2018 World Cup run was magical for England, making it all the way to the semifinals. Along the way, they snapped their penalty curse as well. Having lost all three of their previous WC penalty shootouts, England came out on top this time, advancing past Colombia in the knockout stage.

1966 World Cup Final
It Came Home
England National Team vs West Germany
4 - 2
30 July, 1966
England's last World Cup victory, in 1966 the trophy came home. A wonderful game that was pushed into extra time by a late German equalizer. Hurst scored a controversial goal as the Germans believed it had never crossed the line. Nevertheless, England took home the trophy, they were World Champions.
