Kentucky, led by John Calipari and star Anthony Davis, were the better team in the National Semifinals game versus arch-rival Louisville. As time wound down Davis threw down a final dunk off a deflection from Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Kentucky went on to beat the Kansas for their 8th championship.

After erasing a 17-point deficit, Scott Padgett drilled a 3-point shot with 39 seconds remaining to break an 81-81 tie, giving Kentucky the edge over Duke in the National Quarterfinals. Kentucky went on to win the 1998 NCAA National Championship, the school?s 7th title and its 2nd in the previous 3 seasons.
