The record now sits at 18 goals with lots of play left this tournament. This game wasn't all smooth sailing for the Argentinian forward. In the 9th minute of play, Messi missed a penalty kick, wide right. After 30 minutes of play, he re-deemed himself scoring goal #17 and solidifying himself as the all time leading scorer. To cap off an amazing showing from #10 in white and blue, in the final minutes of the match, Messi would scored goal 18 to extend his record further. Argentina sits on top of Group J at 6 points with 1 game left before the knockout rounds.
