2004 Eastern Conference Finals
Win in Penalties
DC United vs New England
3 - 3
6 November, 2004
This is widely considered one of the best game in MLS history. Every goal D.C. scored was answered by one from New England. After six goals and six yellow cards in regulation the game advanced to penalties, and after 5 penalties the teams were still even. Brian Carroll stepped up for the sixth penalty and sank it into the top left corner. Then Clint Dempsey took the penalty for New England and tried to hit it low to the right. Nick Rimando saved the goal and D.C. advanced.
