Capping off a perfect 1980 season, Georgia soundly beat Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl to win their second national championship. Herschel Walker scored both touchdowns and was named MVP of the game.

In perhaps the most memorable play in Georgia history. #2 Georgia was losing to Florida late in the 4th quarter and searching for a big play when Buck Belue tossed it to Lindsay Scott who ran 93 yards for the touchdown.

With under 2 minutes to play in the SEC Title Game, Georgia was in the red zone but they were down 4 points and were facing 4th and 15. So with 1:25 left David Greene stepped up and found Michael Johnson with a 19 yard touchdown pass that gave Georgia the lead and enough to win the game.

Georgia Tech had scored to take the lead with 8:50 remaining and now Georgia was down 5. A good return gave Georgia the ball at their 36 yard line and they drove the remaining 64 yards in the next 7 minutes, scoring on a 3 yard pass from Matthew Stafford to Mohamed Massaquoi.
