At halftime Portland was already leading 2 - 0 off of goals from Will Johnson and Diego Valeri, and Mamadou Danso made it 3 - 0 early in the second half, heading in a cross from Rodney Wallace. Portland Timbers vs Salt Lake City
3 - 1
7 June, 2014
Salt Lake City had Portland's number for the previous 11 games, including eliminating Portland from the playoffs in 2013. But on this day in June, Portland was primed to prevail. Salt Lake City got the first goal in the 23rd but after that it was all Portland, including two goals from Fanendo Adi. Adi's second goal came right before halftime on a counterattack. Gast?n Fern?ndez passed into the box to Darlington Nagbe whose shot was deflected by keeper Jeff Attinella. The deflection went right to a waiting Adi, who got took the lead for Portland. A penalty from Will Johnson completed the 3 - 1 win.
