Minnesota had rallied to force a Game 7 in the 2014 Quarterfinals against Colorado. The two teams traded goals all game until the score stood at 4 - 4, forcing overtime. Five minutes into OT Kyle Brodziak found a streaking Nino Niederreiter who shot past Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov for the game-winner.

Facing elimination in Game 6 of the 2003 Quarterfinals against Colorado, Minnesota needed a big game. No one had scored in the first two periods, and then Richard Park and Marian Gaborik both scored to put Minnesota up by two. Unfortunately Colorado had an answer, scoring two of their own to send the game to overtime. Four minutes into OT, Gaborik skated past defenders to pass the puck to Park who took a shot from the center of the right circle. The shot flew past Colorado's goalie Patrick Roy for the game-winner, forcing Game 7.

Marian Gaborik became the first player in 11 years to score 5 goals in one game. He achieved this feat against New York in a regular season game, with his fifth goal coming 9 minutes into the 3rd period. Gaborik broke away with the puck with three defenders chasing him, and scored one-on-one against New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

Minnesota had forced a Game 7 in overtime of the 2003 Quarterfinals and now Game 7 was also headed into OT. Three minutes in OT Sergei Zholtok passed dropped the puck back to Andrew Brunette who skated towards goal. Crossing back over the front of the goal, Brunette short-handed it into the net for the game-winner.
