In the gold medal game at the 2018 Winter Olympics, the United States women's national ice hockey team and the Canada women's national ice hockey team battled to a 2–2 tie through regulation and overtime, forcing a dramatic shootout. After multiple tense rounds and clutch saves from goaltender Maddie Rooney, the game came down to one final shot from Canada to force another round in the shootout after forward Jocelyne Lamoureux who delivered in her shootout attempt to put the USA up 3-2. Rooney comes up big with a stop to win gold and clinched the United States’ first Olympic gold in women’s hockey since 1998.
