1984 National Championship
Georgetown vs Houston
84 - 75
2 April, 1984
After the heartbreak in '82 coach John Thompson was on edge before the 1985 Finals, but Patrick Ewing was confident they would win. Ewing was right and Georgetown rolled over Akeem Olajuwon's Houston team, beating then by a margin of 9. The win secured Georgetown their first title.
1980 Big East Regular Season
Manley is officially closed
Georgetown vs Syracuse
52 - 50
12 February, 1980
This game in 1980 marked the start of the Georgetown Syracuse rivalry. #2 ranked Syracuse was looking for an easy win for the last game in Manley Field House. Instead Georgetown barked back from a 14 point halftime deficit and Sleepy Floyd hit the game winning free throws. After the win coach John Thompson stokef the rivalry by famously declaring that "Manley Field House is officially closed."
1996 Regular Season
Iverson pulls the upset
Georgetown vs Connecticut
77 - 65
19 February, 1996
Connecticut came into the game looking to bear the all-time streak for Big East Wins that Georgetown had set in 1985. Allen Iverson and the Georgetown team made sure they didn't succeed, outscoring them by 12 points and forcing Ray Allen's UConn team to commit 20 turnovers.
2007 East Regional Final
14 straight in OT
Georgetown vs North Carolina
96 - 84
25 March, 2007
North Carolina seemed to be cruising to victory up 11 points in the second, but Georgetown wasn't finished. They stormed back to tie the game and force overtime and then stunned North Carolina by getting 14 straight points in OT. The win secured Georgetown's first National Semifinals appearance in 22 years.
Excellent product, do what they are supposed to and look fantastic! Love them.
Greatest Indiana Basketball Plays: Slate Coasters (Set of 4)
I got slate coasters. A touch expensive, but it celebrates good memories, is very unique, and it kept to the theme of my man cave using history rather than overdoing a logo. Many NFL coasters are tacky in my opinion... this added class.
I hope they will add the David Logan touchdown run versus Detroit in 1981 or the Mike Washington interception versus New Orleans in our first win ever in 1977
I purchased as a gift for my children to give to their dad. I love the quality! It was perfect!
