In a dramatic comeback, Oklahoma marched the ball 94 yards in 1:26 to tie the game at 17. Not satifised, the Oklahoma defense forced a punt and gave the offsene the ball back with 1:22 remaining. Keith Jackson made an amazing one handed catch to put Oklahoma in range for the winning field goal.

Earlier in the day #1 ranked Ohio State had been upset in the Rose Bowl giving Oklahoma a chance at their 4th national championship. At the start of the 4th, Steve Davis made a 9 yard run for a touchdown, putting Oklahoma up by 2 scores and all but assuring them the win.

Oklahoma vs Penn State

Oklahoma cruised to an easy 5th national championship against Penn State. Shutting them out entirely in the 2nd half, Oklahoma won by 15 points, but early in the 2nd quarter they had yet to score a touchdown. A 71 yd touchdown from Jamelle Holieway to Keith Jackson gave them much needed momentum.

In just his second season as the head coach for Oklahoma, Bob Stoops led them to an undefeated season and their 7th national championship. In a defensive battle with Florida State, Josh Heupel's hand off to Quentin Griffin for a 10yd touchdown run put the game out of reach for Florida State.
